2. What are the additional functions on QQ5 than QQ2 models?
Additional features on QQ5 are:

  • Two roller brushes enhance the cleaning capability over QQ2 models, large size debris can be cleaned up.
  • Two side brushes will clean corner and along the wall more effectively
  • Two-stage cleaning with strong vacuuming power, QQ5 can clean dirt, dust and pet hair.
  • Improve searching and quickly locate home base to self-recharging when low on battery power.
  • Two sonic walls to confine cleaning area.
  • Higher power horizontal mounting ultraviolet light to kill bacteria
  • High capacity 2800mAH NiMh battery can clean floor up to 90 minutes

It also has scheduler functions. On the preset cleaning time, QQ5 will leave the charging base and start the cleaning session automatically.

User can program it to start cleaning job at the same time on every day, or on any day of week user choose.

Start cleaning with remote control so you don't need to bend your back to operate QQ5. It is good for back injury person.

3. How do I set scheduler functions?

You need to have self-charging base plug into AC outlet and perform time setting and self cleaning on pre-setting time. QQ5 has bigger LCD display for easy timer setting.

4. Will QQ5 continue to do vacuuming after battery is recharged?
Yes. You can command the unit to do vacuuming after battery complete recharge by hit "GO" key on the charging base.

5.What is the main purpose of VAC ON/OFF on remote control unit?
Sweep function is to sweep large debris into dust bin. Vacuum motor is to provide suction power for small debris. Turn off VAC function, QQ5 will only perform sweeping function. QQ5 running time will be longer and quieter if only perform vacuum function. If the room is not so dirty, then vacuum function only will be OK to clean the room.

6. Should QQ5 remain at charging base after battery is fully charged?
Yes. QQ5 must remain at charging base after recharging is complete. Scheduler functions will not be working if QQ5 is not on the charging base.

7. What is the warranty period for CleanMates QQ5 product registration?
One year unit warranty and 6 months battery warranty.

Yes, Sonic Wall works like virtual barrier to block QQ5 from entering area where you don't want QQ5 to do cleaning.

11. Where to place Self-Charging Station to make it easier for the QQ5 to find it?

Having the Self-Charging Station in a place where there are a lot of objects will make it harder for the QQ5 for find it. For better QQ5 searching performance, place the Self-Charging station at the central location of your house or a location that has open space. We recommend placing the Self-Charging station next to a wall leaving space of at least 15" from the each side of the charging station. Also do not place it at corners or edgy places.

12. How does QQ5 search for Self-Charging Station?


QQ5 series have implemented a new docking technology, so its base signal is much stronger and covers a much larger area than QQ2 and QQ3 series. CleanMate QQ5 will be able to detect base signal from very far distant (up to 20 ft away), and then go directly back to the charging base without further searching. Therefore, the docking time of QQ5 is much shorter and affective. The video below shows how QQ5 Plus finds its charging station in no time.

13. How to save timer setting on charging station?

Charging station clock and scheduler setting will be saved when AC power is lost. Clock and timer data will be restored when charging station has AC power.

14. How to set up clock and scheduler setting on charging station?

Please refer to Scheduler Operation Section on user manual.

15. How to detect when the dust bin is full and when to empty debris inside dust bin?

You need to check dust bin debris level when one cleaning cycle is finished. Please empty dust bin and clean air filter as often as possible. There is no harm to run QQ5 even the dust bin is full. QQ5 will no longer pick up debris or it will lost vacuum power when dust bin is full or filter is very dirty.

16. Why do I see sparks when I plug in AC power to charging station?

First connect DC output to charging station first and plug AC charger to wall outlet last.

17. Will having the UV light on shorten QQ5 unit running time?

It will not impact QQ5's running time too much. QQ5 UV light helps to disinfect and clean better. The UV light is automatically turned on at the scheduling vacuum time.

18. Is QQ5 good to clean thicker carpets? Can it go over area rugs with tassels and if gets stuck reverse and move on?

QQ5 can clean carpets that are thick up to 1/2". QQ5 can climb up 1/2" carpet. It will not go over rug with tassels since the roller brush will not do reverse action like Roomba unit.
